The University Archives contains several collections of historic UCLA photographs. The Archives Photograph Reference collection contains photographic images of buildings, events, and organizations affiliated with the Los Angeles State Normal School (LASNS), 1881-1919; the University of California, Southern Branch, 1919-1926; and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), 1927 to the present. This collection also has images of students and athletic events. We also have construction photos of campus buildings from the Campus Planning Committee and Office of Architects and Engineers.
Link Atkinson Photographic Archive
This archive of architectural photographs is a personal gift from Rita and Richard Atkinson to the University of California. Richard C. Atkinson served from 1995-2003 as the seventeenth president of the University. These striking images of the ten UC campuses were commissioned by him in 2002-03 in order to document the extraordinary architecture found on UC's campuses and to provide a source of campus images that will be available for all to use. The archive consists of 450 4"x5" color transparencies, panoramic aerial views, individual CDs of each campus, and a DVD containing all the images. The photographs have been scanned at high resolution and are available for unrestricted use by the University of California. The Atkinson Photographic Archive will be housed at the Office of the President. A limited number of DVDs are available free upon request.
